About CMS

CMS( Content Management System is a system used to manage the content of a website. CMS consists of two elements CMA and CDA.

CMA(Content Management Application): CMA allows the author or content manager to create, modify, and removal of the content from a website. CDA(Content Delivery Application): This element uses and compiles that information to update the website. Most of the CMS systems include common features such as web-based publishing, format managemnt, revision control, and indexing, search, and retrieval.

Content can be any type such as simple text, photos, music videos, or documents. The major advantage of using CMS is that it requires almost no technical skill or knowledge to manage. OpenCMS helps content managers to create and maintain websites fast and efficiently. The fully browser based user interface features configurable editors for structured content with well defined fields. Content can be created using an integrated WYSIWYG editor which is similar to well known office applications. OpenCMS is based on Java and XML technology. It can be deployed in an open source environment such as Linux, Apache, Tomcat, MySQL and on commercial components such as Windows NT, IIS, BEA Weblogic, Oracle.
